Information about 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide and how 35% H2O2 can help you live a healthier life.
The topic of hydrogen peroxide can be confusing, especially when we add 35% vs 3%, food grade ratings, volume vs concentration. We then compound this information with the constantly growing internet and people “parroting” what they read from some one else’s website.
We all learn from reading in one way or another, however learning from a trusted source is very important and we want to be that source for you. We devote time and energy into understanding the information we publish. We also continue to update and review information we have put out to ensure nothing has changed.
Although we do not like being wrong, we are open to it and when it is brought to our attention by internal sources or outside we make the necessary corrections ASAP. I hope that you can appreciate the aforementioned, open to being wrong, we need more of it in our society. We are all human.

What is the shelf life of 35% Hydrogen peroxide? It depends how we define shelf life. Hydrogen peroxide does not spoil or “go bad”. Our 35% Hydrogen Peroxide does not have unwanted added stabilizers and is not “stabilized” with added chemicals or toxic heavy metals. For this reason on average a 1%-1.5% loss over 12 months may be possible.
Our peroxides do have a two year expiration date from the date of production. Federal regulations require organic food producers and packaging facilities, when using hydrogen peroxide that the hydrogen peroxide must meet standards defined in the Food Contact Chemical Codex and can not be less than 33.5%. It is likely that over a two year period 35% hydrogen peroxide may have dropped below this threshold.
Hydrogen peroxide at 33.5% is still very strong and usable for home use. We certainly encourage customers to utilize the benefits of their peroxide however if you find a bottle and six years has passed use our concentration calculator and make adjustments when diluting to take in consideration any estimated drop in strength.
Our peroxide is always fresh and we never store our inventory for extended time. We are constantly evaluating demand, paired with our procurement. This guarantees customers will receive high quality and strong 35% hydrogen peroxide. We do multiple batch tests during certification and require our 35% to be 35% or greater yet can not exceed 35.9%. Most batches test between 35.2% and 35.7%.
Storing in a refrigerator or freezer can help prevent degradation over time although a cool dark storage is adequate. 35% hydrogen peroxide will freeze at -35C / -31F which is well below temperatures common for residential freezers.
Remember to store away from children.
